What if somehow, the fiasco that was KSSABC was somehow prevented? Either by the Mormons having more access to specie, or a less severe (or better yet, no) bank panic in 1837?
If Mormons weren't perceived as trying to rip other people off, could they have somehow finessed their way into being tolerated?
IIRC, polygamy wasn't preached publicly yet at Kirtland. Could they pull off a polygamy revelation without getting persecuted if they were otherwise "good citizens"?
