If that doesn't happen could the mongol invasion of the Middle East be averted? or that was inevitable?

If there is no invasion what could be the consequences? the first the comes to mind would be no ass kicking for the Sultanate of Rum so the Roman empire would be in even more trouble... other could be a more significant drive into the Russian plains?

Possibly still happens as some sources claim that Temujin only used the incident as an excuse or that he was planning on attacking anyway down the road.

well if temujin doesnt follow through with what hed always planned on doing...cos lets face it he wanted to go on forever....its likly hell crush what remains of the chinese factions and unify china alot earlier asnd under more stable mongol rule...also it might free him up to deal with his sons and the russians alot sooner

This means that Iran maintains its extremely large population without the mongol conquest, which could lead to some interesting possibilities. It also butterflies the Mongols getting to the Abbasid Caliphate meaning no sack of Baghdad.
