WI:The Jacobites never marched into England during the 1745 rising?

Whilst in Edinburgh, the Jacobite war council voted by a single vote to march into England, with opposition, led by Lord George Murray stating that they should consolidate their position in Scotland firstly.

What if O'Sullivan had taken ill and another member had changed his mind, meaning the vote had gone the other way? How would this have affected the rising?

The Jacobites hold out for longer but their advance runs out of steam quicker unless the French invasion come a they still lose out in the long run.

It leaves open the question, could they have consolidated their position in Scotland prior to anymore horridness?

Uh oh. Watch out for IBC...

IBC said that although the Jacobites had Holyrood Palace, the loyalists held the fortress in the city.

I posted an AH on this topic awhile back after reading a lot of Schama and IBC had some very specific things to say.

Probably wouldn't do th Jacobites that good due to the fact that the West Coast was pretty much aganst them. Can't see the majority Presbyterean church happy with a Catholic King.

Yeah, they're still going to be repressed, since the army is still going to come north, even if they do get the better of the Presbyterians in the south-west that TBS mentions. And once that happens, the social and political consequences don't have much reason to change.

God Save the King might not become the national anthem, thank heavens. :p
