WI: The Heracleopolitan Kings Reunify Egypt

I am far from an expert on Ancient Egypt but I have been dwelving on the topic a bit recently and I found the first intermediate period particularly interesting.

Essentially the end of the Ancient Kingdom saw royal power desagregate and the reality of political power devolve to local nobles and officials. Eventually two rival families emerged from the chaos: the House of Khety in the north, based in Heracleopolis and the House of Intef in the south, based in Thebes.

Eventually the Thebans triumphed but, by all accounts, sources seem to indicate that the House of Khety had the upper hand for some time and it is far from inconcevable that they could have been the ones reunifying Egypt.

How would have things turned out had it been the case? How would a dynasty with his power center in the north rather then in the south would have developed? Could it have lead to an earlier focus on Canaan and the Levant rather at the expense of the OTL campaigns in Nubia during the Middle Kingdom? How would Egypt's culture and religion be affected?
