Well, the Anglican church was rather on top in what is now Canada, and I guess more 'radical' protestant denominations would have been at least 'glared at', if not discriminated/discouraged. Not as much as Catholicism, but...

Oh, but the Great Awakening in New England happened during the colonial period. Unless you're talking about the much later second one.
