WI: The Fronde Succeeds?

What it says on the label. What happens to the development of France if the Fronde succeeds? By the Fronde I mean the first Fronde, the Fronde Parlementaire. The main PoD that I can think of is that the French lose the Battle of Lens, and the ensuing riots in Paris lead to the death of Cardinal Mazarin and the imprisonment of young Louis XIV. Louis will abdicate in favour of Armand de Bourbon, the Prince of Conti, who will take the title of Henry V.

Anyone?

Well the fronde was interesting but you must understand the Princes of Conti was a title given to those of the conde family. WHy would the rebels want to put a member of house Conde when house conde fought against them.
Also this is pretty bad for the common man. You see the parlimentarians were lead by nobility so if they succeed you may see the development of a noble republic ala Poland or Venice. This is a very likely possibility and if so a bad thing. The parlimentarians were aristocrats who didnt care about the poor and in fact to keep their power they would institute more laws against the poor. Thus I See a revoulution breaking out sooner. Also if Louis is imprisoned that could mean war with Austria and SPain. YOu see Louis mother was Anne of Austria if here cousin the hapsburg finds out about this imprisonment of his cousin Im sure he will rally imperial forces and invade France. Thus France would fight a two front war against Spain and Austria. Yeah the war would be called war for French succestion most likely. THus it would lead to disaster for EUrope. Honestly it was a good thing the Fronde failed.

This would delay the development, but not stop it. One generation later, the same question would come up again: Should France stay a semi-feudalist state, or become a centralist absolutist state? The burghers (the later Third Estate) will rather support the king than the nobility, and they are becoming stronger and stronger with time.

The prince de Condé doesn't seem like a great leader to me. Louis XIV may have been a child, but Cardinal Mazarin is, well, Mazarin. But even if Condéwas a greater man, and Mazarin died of unfortunate circumstances, we would rather see what I described in the first paragraph.

No Louis de COnde was a brilliant generfal. Although I do doubt his statesmanship. He is like the third greateast french general after Napoleon and his arch rival Turenne. But like I said before why would they elect him? This is the first Fronde not the second. He was on the side of Louis XIV and Mazarin. Or did the OP mix up the two frondes?

It seems he did, yes, otherwise he wouldn't have mentioned prince Armand.
I see that makes sense cause if its the first or second fronde that was all Louis prince of Conde not Armand. ALthough in the second fronde Louis went against Louis XIV.
I still believe the Fronde was a bad idea from the start because it can easily lead to a large scale EUropean war. Basically like mentioned above a french succestion war over wheather the nobility or Louis should rule.
