Inspired by a Maltese programme, that obviously needed a few lessons in AH.
For those who might not know, the Knights were extremely autocratic and hated, and when the French came with all their Liberte, fraternite, and the rest the Maltese hailed them as liberators. It was only when the French started pillaging, draining cash, killing nationalists, etc. that the Maltese revolted and kicked them out. So, WI they didn't, they still instituted all their reforms, but didnt pillage or waste money? Apparently Vaubois was very popular here, and according to this programme, if they had kept on the right track Malta would become an integral part of France.
Could this happen, would it affect the Napoleonic wars and how?
The programme ended by saying "so when the French got occupied by the Germans in the SECOND WORLD WAR (!), Malta would become German. I wonder what that would be like?..." which made me facepalm. But thats Malta for you.
