WI the far right brazilian coup of 1977 succeded?

Could Sylvio Ally with Videla and make a double attack on the Faklands? Did Brazil already possessed two more aircraft carriers?

I hate to say it, but Videla may be many things but - on that one topic - stupidity is not one of them. Still a horrible person, but I'd like to think there was a reason Galtieri was ultimately responsible for that and not Videla.

Having said that, if the dictatorship revived that, that would be a scary proposition, since France could just basically curbstomp the Brazilian military, even at full capacity, without much in terms of problems. And the US would probably acquiesce and let France do its thing, despite the whole "backyard" thing and all that jazz.
Oh, so the quality gap between the French and the Brazillians would be even greater than the gap between the Argies and the British?

Probably. The main thing is that on both sides, getting a land war would be immensely difficult as there's no easy way to get to the border, so it would have to be done in other ways, meaning a heavier reliance on the Navy and Air Force. Even at this period, France has more manpower and better equipment/training than the Brazilian military (and, if need be, the Gendarmerie could be called up to provide additional support - on top of their policing duties - if the Foreign Legion and the regular units are not enough). So there would be no contest between France and Brazil; only a lopsided one, probably more so than if the crazy operation Jânio thought of actually happened.

I really wish we had a brazilian and a french military expert here, or someone from one of the two countries with enought knowledge to think how the war could play

That being said, Dan is right, there is no reason to attack french guyana, it could be seen as a burden to keep also
