WI the ERE recognized Charlemagne as Emperor in the West?

Could it potentially lead to a reunification of the Roman Empire as a single entity, as in, One Empire Two Emperors?

The ERE did grudgingly recognize Charles as Emperor in the West - although I believe (forced to go by memory) they worded it as something to the effect of "Emperor governing the Roman West" or something along those lines.

But he was acknowledged as an Emperor, definitely.

It would still all fall over when Charlemagne dies and breaks his empire into 3 for his sons.
