WI the Entente waits for the Americans after April 1917 instead of launching offensives?

But the mutiny was in reaction to the Nivelle offensive, which is removed by the premise.

The Nivelle Offensive started on April 16, only ten days after the US declaration of war. It wouldn't have been called off at the last minute, whatever happened about later ones.

Also, it was expected to be the "knock-out blow" which would defeat the German army, so that waiting for the Americans would have seemed unnecessary. The latter option (if it really was an option) would only have been taken seriously after (and precisely because) the NO had been tried and failed.

All true - but the premise of the thread is otherwise, as indicated in the title.

The PoD has to be somewhat earlier. Perhaps when the British intercept the Zimmerman Telegram, the Allies think that now American entry is inevitable, and their high commands are already convinced that they can't win on the Western Front without a lot more power.

The OP refers only to British offensives and to the Russian Kerensky Offensive. It doesn't mention Nivelle.

True, but he also writes of the Germans "Relieved of the burden of defense on the western [front]" and "the Germans, not having to defend against Allied offensives in Europe", which would not make sense if the Nivelle offensive went forward.

Mikestone8, Anarch - Either concept is fine with me. In the OP and early postings I meant for there to be no Nivelle Offensive, but after I got a lot of feedback I revised the idea to just stop the Russian offensive of 1917 and the later stage British offensives.
