In 1381, there was a Peasants' Revolt in England, triggered by the institution of a poll tax. This got to the stage where the King, Richard II was essentially powerless and even the Tower of London had fallen. On 15 June, the leader of the rebels was slain, and Richard managed to convince the rebels to follow him away.

Suppose instead that the revolt had ended with Richard's death (and no one else, such as John of Gaunt, was able to claim the throne). How would this have affected history, particularly in Britain?
