WI: The Dixie Chicks criticized Dubya's domestic policy, but not his foreign policy

What if the Dixie Chicks didn't say anything about Iraq, but instead talked about how they support LGBT rights, are pro-choice, oppose the stem-cell research ban, etc.?

I don't know if it would make a huge difference. They were a country group and country fans are massively on the conservative side at that point in time. The backlash might not be as strong since everyone was hyper focused on Iraq, but it could very well still sink there career's.

In 2003, criticizing Dubya in any way whatsoever was considered treason in many circles consistent with country music. The Dixie Chicks would have been boycotted if they made fun of Dubya’s haircut, let alone his policies.
