WI- The Democratic Party Did Not Believe They 'Owed' The Clintons Anything Beyond Telling Goodbye

Two moments that I believe WOULD have changed late 20th Century and early 21st Century history.
1. Instead of Vice-President Gore saying that President Bill Clinton was 'the greatest President in the 20th Century' had he addressed how the latter had humiliated the nation and infuriated many Democratic supporters with his antics and lies, I truly believe he'd have won Florida and the 2000 Presidency without any debate.

2. Had Senator Obama said at the 2008 Democratic Convention 'Thank you President and Senator Clinton for coming to our Convention. Now MOVING ON!'
Then not awarded her any posts or support. Afterwards any number of viable, likable candidates with comparatively small amounts of dirty laundry could have easily won against the Republican nominee in 2016.

Bill Clinton didn't infuriate many Democratic supporters. Yes, he was tough on crime and enacted welfare reform, but he appointed liberal Justices. Gore doing that makes it a Bush landslide, as people who think Clinton was bad will more likely vote for Bush, while Gore supporters who like Bill stay home. Bit like 2016 (Republicans kept same votes, Clinton down 5 million). Will address #2 later, but bad blood for 4 years, leading to fewer bills being passed (bickering until GOP win a 41st Senate seat).

1. Gore loses the popular vote.

2. President Obama's foreign policy is far less successful than it was IOTL.

With regard to 2000, Bill Clinton's job approval numbers were not at all bad. http://www.gallup.com/poll/116584/presidential-approval-ratings-bill-clinton.aspx I have actually seen it argued that Gore tried *too much* to disassociate himself from the Clinton administration (that was part of the point of the Lieberman choice, since Lieberman had severely criticized Clinton over Monicagate). I rather doubt that, but at any rate Clinton did not cost Gore the election in 2000.

With regard to discussion of the 2016 election *under any guise*, I say, Leave it to Chat.

No actually, just the opposite. Clinton's support among Democrats and independents was extremely high. Al Gore made a huge strategic mistake in repudiating the Clinton administration and selecting one of the most histrionic moral scolds.

Possibly. Possibly not. Hillary Clinton's weaknesses as a candidate were her own.
