What would happen if the czar of Russia abdicated after the revolution of 1905 and Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich became regent for Alexei Nikolaevich Tsesarevich of Russia would Russia do better in ww1,would it prevent the Russian revolution?

Not much different for WWI except various butterflies. If WWI starts same as OTL, Russia still got beaten. If it starts later, Russia might fare better. But that is unlikely to depend on monarchs name. As for revolution - possible if Michail pursues more prudent politics and allow for gradual transfer to constitutionalism. Removal of Nicholas II would reduce some resentment felt after 1905, but main problems would still be present. Anyway, main factor is WWI.

Situation wasn't so shitty for czar on 1905 as it was on 1917. He wouldn't abdicate if practically whole nation not be against him. And on 1905 Nicholas II had still support of army. Only way is that Russo-Japanese war goes even worse ro there is Great War on 1900s.

IIRC the problem with Nicholas is that he (a) sincerely believed in his god given duty to rule and (b) was at best of mediocre intellect. Not exactly a combination of factors likely to lead him to take such a drastic step.

Not so much that as it was his wife Alexandra, and his uncles wouldn't allow such a thing, no matter what he what he may have felt, Nicholas wasn't the strong-willed of leaders, with a wife who believed in an absolute monarchy or as much as you could get in those days.

As for the revolution the factor were already there, hell the Russo-Japanese war was supposed to be a short victorious war to help keep the population content. The only ways you could reasonably haven't a decent Nicholas II is if something happens where his grandfather lives, his reaction dies, and he is actually given a gooed education to be a ruler, or he at least doesn't marry Alexandra, which saves him from the possibility of Hemophilia for kids and a person who believed in mystics and superstitions no matter how compromising a la Rasputin, along with her stubbornness and ignorance.

Hi, not precisely the point of difference you describe as from memory Nicholas dies in a train crash, but you have the same regent. But this time line The Consequence of an Errant Shell by @johnboy explores the idea very well and should answer your question.

Hope this helps Dave
