Shortly after the Egyptian victory over a Crusader force at the Battle of Al Mansurah, Al-Muazzam Turanshah, the last Ayyubid Sultan of Egypt, alienated the Bahri Mamluks and constantly threatened them. Offended by his treatment of them and fearing he'd go after them, the Mamluks killed him and took over Egypt, though the Ayyubids would continue to rule in the Levant for another decade.

But what if this didn't happen? Suppose the Mamluks either stayed loyal to Al-Muazzam or failed to kill him. How would things have changed?
