WI: The 1994's French 9/11 Happens

Here's the OTL Version:
On Christmas Eve 1994, an Air France Airbus A300, Flight AF8969, is hijacked at Algiers Airport (Algeria) by the Armed Islamic Group (GIA). 3 passengers were murdered before the plane finally took off towards Marseille, France; on Boxing Day, for refueling purposes, before the final flight to Paris. In the afternoon of that day, the GIGN - France's counter-terror unit - stormed the plane and killed the terrorists.
The French government learned via a mole in the GIA, that the hijackers weren't going to make a "press conference" in Paris, like they told the crew and passengers: the true purpose of the hijacking, was to crash the aeroplane full of kerosene on the Eiffel Tower or the Elysée Palace.

The terrorists were young, and unexperienced which also could have been a factor. The World forgot about the hijacking and the possibility of a plane crashing into a symbolical structure.
Less than 7 years later, 9/11 occurs.

So, let's imagine:
The terrorists are better prepared and the A300 takes off from Algiers. The plane is hijacked in mid-flight, possibly while beginning the descent to Paris-Orly Airport; "successfully" taking control. Minutes later, AF8969 crashes into the Eiffel Tower, killing all 236 people on-board and hundreds more on the ground.

What would happen next? Would it be like a 9/11-style of response or something else?

NOTE: This is a very brief summary of the events. If you want to see the bigger picture, there's the links to the Wikipedia page and the Air Crash Investigations episode on the flight.
