What is Tecumseh did not die in the battle of the Thames because his wounds were less and he was able to recover

What is Tecumseh did not die in the battle of the Thames because he listened to Henry Proctor and stayed in forts rather than meeting the americans in battle in the winter?

As I understand it Tecumseh needed to fight because the advancing Americans had already overrun the bulk of his people's farms and hunting grounds and if he hadn't fought he would have lost too much of his people.

Also it was October 5th so only the start of winter at best.

I suspect that Tecumseh was too proud to give up fighting, and would have been intensely saddened at the result of the war. Remember that this war was won by everybody but the people who deserved it most, in retrospect.
