WI: Taft wins the 1952 GOP nomination?

I theorized about this a bit in the alternate presidents thread and i was just wondering what y'all thought could/would happen. Of course, Taft wouldn't be president for too long, but what kind of impact would he leave?

He would have had to be elected President first & though I have a bit of a soft spot for Taft, I would
have to say someone as conservative(in terms of 1952 politics IOTL)as he was would have had a very
hard time attracting independent voters. Plus many internationalist & liberal Republicans(in 1952 IOTL
liberal Republican was not, as it is now, a contradiction in terms)would not have voted for him. To
sum up, I think Taft most likely would have lost a close election to Democrat Adlai Stevenson.
