WI: Sweden annex Denmark

What if king Charles X of Sweden had succeded in conquering Denmark during the war of 1659?
Can imagine England and the Netherlands getting quite angry...

Oh yes, that would have been grounds for happy-happy-fun times indeed. I think Netherlands and England would do quite a lot to stop that from happening since they didn't really want one side to rule both sides of the sounds (for whatever reason) and IF it happened, relations between Sweden and the Dutch and the British would sour down... Quite a lot.

There's surprising little they could do about it at that point, Karl has likely been crown king of Denmark by the noble in this case, the population has accepted the new situation, Frederik has been banish to his possesion in Schleswig-Holstein and he was never popular among the nobility and his powerbase Copenhagen has likely accepted the new King. So unless England and Netherlands want to try to conquer Denmark, they more or less have to accept the new situation.
Charles will likely spend most of the rest of his life in Copenhagen, which ironic may end up de facto capital of the new union. It's better placed for dealing with the German possesions, and he need to be there to secure his rule. He will likely either have made the Danish crown heritable or have his son crown Chosen Prince when he was made king of Denmark, so the union are relative secure for at least a generation.

The swedish king Karl X Gustav offered England 2 towns in Holstein, all toll in Bergen, Island, Bremen and Jylland (Jutland) if England helped Sweden to conquer Denmark. Karl Gustav promised too completly destroy Copenhagen.

Well in OTL England and Holland threatened joint naval action. Austria, Brandenburg, and Poland are glaring at Sweden, the Muscovites have still invaded Finland...

Could this be the straw that breaks the Swedish back 60 years ahead of OTL?

Interesting idea, but in the end I think they more or less will accept the new status, while Sweden gaining Denmark and Norway sucks, England can live with it, while the Dutch will likely be angry, but not angry enough to start a potential decade long war about it, especially not a war where they risk to be cut of from the Elb and Baltic trade for that periode. Brandenburg at this point aren't really a threat, Poland and Moscow are the biggest threats especially in alliance with the Dutch, but I not sure they will be able to defeat Sweden on short notice.
To whether Karl X Gustav are going to burn Copenhagen to the ground I expect in the end not, it would be incredible stupid. So we're unlikely to see a Sack of Magdeburg on Copenhagen, through we likely see much brutality and looting, but after a few year the city are back to normal, and Copenhagen are much better placed to control the Swedish Empire than Stockholm.
