According to Wikipedia,
"Fearing that the peace with Svyatoslav would not endure, the Byzantine emperor induced the Pecheneg khan Kurya to kill Svyatoslav before he reached Kiev. This was in line with the policy outlined by
Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus in
De Administrando Imperio of fomenting strife between the Rus' and the Pechenegs. According to the Slavic chronicle,
Sveneld attempted to warn Svyatoslav to avoid the
Dnieper rapids, but the prince slighted his wise advice and was ambushed and slain by the Pechenegs when he tried to cross the cataracts near
Khortitsa early in 972. The Primary Chronicle reports that his skull was
made into a chalice by the Pecheneg khan."
So, assume that Svyatoslav heeds to Sveneld's advice and takes another route, ensuring his survival. Other attempts on his life come to failure.
-Would he continue his campaigns of aggression towards his neighbors? If he does, where does he go from now?
-I hear that 'Svyatoes did not convert to christianity due to fear of being mocked and disobeyed by his more reliable soldiers. If, at some point, he feels that he is okay with his current clay, will he decide to dispose of them and convert to christianity, consolidating outside recognition of his territory? Will this decision be good for Russia's future, considering that they would control more trade routes in former Khazaria, the territory of which could also serve as a shield from future steppe horseman incursions? Or would they end up being too overstretched with their conquests?
