WI:Sun Yat-Sen avoids cancer

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen is today seen as the father of modern China (in the case of both the PRC and ROC). OTL, his death in 1925 lead to the collapse of the coalition between the communists and the nationalists, which would descend into a civil war that wouldn't end until the communist victory of 1949.
Now his death was brought on by liver cancer (which is mainly caused by hepatitis B/C in China). With a POD where he avoids developing cancer, what can his United KMT backed by the COMMITERN (OTL at his death) do in terms of stabilizing China? How does this affect Soviet power, Japanese policies, and overall Asian geopolitics? Can China be even more powerful than it is OTL?

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen was the foremost national leader of China and the first President of the Republic of China, a post he could hold for barely two months from January 1, 1912 to March 10, 1912. Soon after the Revolution which brought down the empire and formed the republic, he was forced to make way for Yuan Shikai, who even proclaimed himself emperor. Sun Yat- Sen headed many revolutionary governments against the warlords. He founded the Kuomintang Party which was later led by Chiang Kai-shek. He also sought the co-operation of the communists in his fight against the warlords. After his death due to cancer in 1925, his legacy was claimed by both the Nationalists and the Communists. He is hailed as the "Forerunner of the Revolution" by the PRC and the "Father of Nation" by the ROC.
Sun Yat-Sen couldn't unite China under him during his lifetime. Even after the overthrow of the empire, he had to struggle against the warlords for control. If the cancer had not claimed his life at the age of 58, would he have succeeded? If he had lived another ten or twenty years, he might have succeeded in preventing the rift between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. A united front against the Japanese Army could have helped a more successful resistance by the Chinese. A co-operative effort between the Chinese factions might also have prevented the civil war. A democratic China was a possibility after the world war.

The GMD/CPC United Front lasted until Sun's death.

At minimum, I think Sun could have held the GMD/CPC United Front together. He was widely revered by both the GMD and CPC and I don't think Jiang Jieshi would try anything for as long as Sun was alive. Sun would never have conducted the White Terror either, which butterflies away Mao's rise to power.
