WI Sultan Jajha the Christian became ottoman emperor

Er. A Christian would never have intended up on the Ottoman throne. He would've converted.

My Abdul, Don Grey, and Keenir senses are tingling.

But didn't he come close to the ottoman throne he almost defeated Ahmad, I'm serious he was the son of the Kommenian princess of trebizond and while in Bulgaria converted to Christianity and aimed for the throne because since he was the eldest he thought it was his right and fought Ahmad, so WI Ahmad dies he is the last child of Mehmet iII to live so he becomes emperor of the ottomans??:)

He would have to placate the Ottoman nobility which is Muslim. I don't think they would take too kindly to having a Christian reign over them. Again, I'm not so sure.

Actually he had quite a lot of support in.
Anatolia and the balkans in fact he launched multiple revolts against Ahmad. He was almost succesful and won the admiration of many.

Yeah, they were.

But unless Jahja was more effectively backed by Christian states I see it likelier that he is deposed or he at least nominally converts to Islam.

I imagine the Safavids putting a claim on the Caliphate. I imagine if Jahja gets the throne, then this is assuming all is going hell in the Ottoman Empire.

Assuming Jajha was actually a Christian, which I thought was always just court gossip, he'll definately be a Muslim as Sultan.

Otherwise I can't see him actually win any such struggle.

I suppose it would depend upon what alliances he made with those in the army/court/religious courts.

I imagine someone else attempting on claiming the Caliphate? Weren't the Safavids still around?

the title can be claimed by any number of people -- remember that for over a hundred years, the Ottomans and Hapsburgs argued over which of them could claim the title Emperor.

So WI Jahja succesfully
crushed Ahmad and became Ottoman sultan what would peoples reactions be to see a Christian sultan on the ottoman throne:cool:

name's not familiar; sorry. when was he?

Oh this guy is Jajha sultan son of mehmet III his mother was a princess of Trebizond. Basically because she was afraid her son wpuld die they went to bulgaria where jahja converted, he soon defeated all his brothers except Ahmad
so he was after the throne because since he was the eldest son the throne belongs to him.

Jahja (wiki link) could never claim the throne of the Ottoman Empire as a Christian. It's just not possible. What might happen is the creation of a hostile state in the Balkans but one that will probably collapse after he dies and is no longer around to beat up the Ottomans militarily. If however he can kill all the Ottoman family but himself so there is no legitimate pretender, you will probably have the empire fragment into a few powerful states for a while with Jahja's state being just one of a number and probably unstable as the Balkan Muslims will probably rise for the Muslim states if Jahja's ever shows weakness.

Basically I think a weaker Ottoman-Style muslim empire because of less of the Balkans is possible if everything goes right. Austria will probably benefit from this quite a bit.

So say he creates this hostile state, With Ahmad dead many pretenders will rise so if the ottomans fracture then they are in deep trouble. I am sure the habsburgs will want to aid this new Christian kingdom and in fact Jahja is also a blood relative of habsburgs. Remember the habsburgs marroed roman princesses, Jahja was the son of a princess oftrebizond a Komnenian, Komnenians rule Trebizond and gave birth to paleologae and Laskaris and angelos.
