WI:Sulayman Luzon

What if the Rajah Sulayman, a descendant of Bolkiah was able to defeat Lakandula because the European exploration and imperialism in South East Asia was butterflied and delayed until the 17th century and Sulayman, if he succeeded converting the people of Luzon, and at that time the Kapampangans were positioned to be the majority of Luzon due to them having the most fertile areas of Luzon which is the Central Luzon plains, how would have Luzon/Selurong developed would it slip to the Sinosphere or stay in the Malay world.

Why would European exploration be delayed? The Spanish considered at least a trading post in the Philippines vital for their trade with China.

It would be delayed because the Europeans are distracted from their explorations due to wars like wars between Aragon and France and the Portuguese fail to discover the route to india due to the Marinids being resurgent and even converted Congo to Islam.

Actually, the best way to Butterfly the Spanish is for them to not be lazy and gain the Spice Islands of moulaccas before the Portugese. Or have Legazpi an his ships not find the two Chinese Junks in Manila.

If the Spanish had they may have totally disregarded the Philippines and established a Spanish Indonesia.

Yeah, the scenario I am asking is the Europeans fail to discover the route to India so the conquest is avoided and Luzon gets totally islamized before the Europeans come not just how to avoid/resist the conquest of Luzon if the Spanish still come which I think needs an earlier POD..

You may have a more plausible POD in that Magellan fails his trip to Circumnavigate the Globe thus forcing Europeans to use the West-East route longer.

That would be an interesting scenario...if someone creates a timeline with that POD I might be interested.

If the Portuguese invade parts of Borneo and Sumatra the refugees might settle in Luzon.

Either Balboa gets to the Spice Islands before the Portuguese or Amerigo Vespucci makes it all the way past the Strait at the Southern end of South America which will now bear his name, pointing the way for a Spanish expedition that much earlier. Think earlier, not later, and further South so the Spanish discover Australia, not the Philippines.
Of course then Luzon is likely to get Minged in the 1660s by Koxinga rather than Islamicized.

Yeah, in 1570, the conquest of Legaspi happened but if Sulayman won due to the Spanish not intervening, I think Islam will spread to the lowlands, If Luzon gets islamized and the Bruneian fealty will get strengthened I think it is likely that the fall of Ming would likely be butterflied due to different Imjin and Islam might spread to Taiwan creating a scenario where in Japan encounters Islam instead of Christianity.
