Wi: Sudan and Uganda for recognition of partition of Palestine

Could the British offer Sudan and Uganda as Home for the Palestinians to Egypt for it to accept the 1948 Partition plan

Would Egypt accept and if it did would it Encourage Jordan to accept Partition plan

What would be the impact on the monarchy

I don't think the British have the logistics to transport millions of Palestinians to Sudan or Uganda. The idea that it would get the neighboring Arab countries to tolerate Israel is ridiculous as well.

Jordan did tolerate Israel, I was thinking along the lines of Britain giving Uganda and Sudan so They would recognize Israel rather then actually resettlement

They had secret dealing with them and the king was in favor of the partition plan but public and international pressure made Him go to war

I don't see why they won't do what they did as OTL. Britain deporting all the Palestinians in the Jewish zones to Sudan or Uganda isn't going to make public pressure go away. But seriously, why not just send the Palestinians in the Jewish zones to the Arab zones?

You should change the title its very misleading but I know that isn't your intention.

It should be

WI: Britain gives Sudan and Uganda to Egypt in exchange for recognition of the partition of Palestine

Or something along those lines. The time you wrote suggests transporting and settling millions of Arab Palestinians to either Sudan or Egypt.

But to answer your question, no nothing Britain can give to Egypt will sweeten the deal enough for them to except it. The Arab populations will never accept a Jewish state. It would be political suicide for an Arab leader to recognize Israel. Remember, Sadat was killed for just making peace.

Also, why Uganda? Egypt is a middle eastern state more then an African one and always has been in modern history. They wouldn't want black Africans. Sudan, Libya, even Eritrea would all be better choices. Or even a mandate over Jerusalem or Yemen.

A transfer of populations did not happen as the Arab nations were convinced that they would push the Jews into the sea. There was the misconception of equating population with milatary power.

So, under this plan, we get ethnic cleansing just after the same has occurred in Eastern Europe too.
Not really a great idea, illegal and wrong.

For the reasons exposed above I find this idea to be very much in the ASB realm.

It would have been more credible, although ethically equivalent, to bribe Transjordan Syria and Egypt to take on the bulk of the Palestinian population.

They recognize the partition, then promptly spend decades trying to keep the areas to their south from rising up. Of course the British can change their mind and keep the land. Or just ditch them.
