I do not have a particular POD in mind, but the older and greater the effects the better in my opinion.

Not too sure if this has come up in thread discussions before, but the plains of Africa do seem pretty suitable for the rise of Horse-nomad cultures and cultures in general that would benefit greatly from horse use.

The Nubians were horse users, as well as the mighty empires of Western Africa (Mali, Songhai). But none of these penetrated the vast grasslands of South/South Eastern Africa.

Horses there in general had a rough time with the Tsetse fly, and African Horse sickness; leading horses to be very hard to keep in these areas.

Later on due to the cape colony, the Lesotho developed a horse culture and distinct breed but otherwise there was not much horse use by Africans in the areas mentioned above.

I believe the Lesotho horse is disease resistant(source is escaping me), but even if it isn't the point is:

If a disease resistant horse breed, whether acquired through selective breeding, or natural mutations was developed and transported into Sub-Saharan Africa, what would the effects be in: Classical Antiquity, Medieval kingdom building (Great Zimbabwe, Mutapa,) and eventual contact with Islamic and Indian traders, and Europeans?
