WI Stilicho's plan against usurper Constantine III was succesful?

In the summer of 408, as the Roman forces in Italy assembled to counterattack Constantine III Magister Militum Stilicho came up with a plan to deal with him... He had 4 cousins of the emperor Honorius in Hispania, which was a stronghold of the House of Theodosius and loyal to the ineffectual emperor, organize an attack from that direction while troops under Sarus and Stilicho attacked him from Italy surrounding him while still in Gaul and annihilating his army (consisted mostly by British Legions)...
However Stilicho's plan failed and backfired... Constantine III sent to Hispania General Gerontius and he wiped out the 4 cousins of Honorius executing 2 while 2 others esacaped to Constantinople... While Stilicho was killed in an army mutiny and General Sarus deserted Honorius forcing the desperate Emperor to recognise Constantine III as co-Emperor...
WI Stilicho's plan worked and Constantine was annihilated?
How is that altering History? Could the rebel Legions have returned to Britain under new (loyal) commander and defend the island from Saxons? Any thoughts?
