WI: Star of the West lands

In early 1861, President Buchanan sent an unarmed merchant ship named the Star of the West to resupply Fort Sumter. Unfortunately, this unarmed ship was fired upon by Confederate soldiers. So, my question is what if the ship managed to land at Fort Sumter and resupply the troops?

There are various ways that this could come about (USS Brooklyn sent along, they arrive at night, fluke), but I'll leave that up to your imaginations.

The Confederate leadership grows even more worried about letting the popular enthusiasm dissipate and so has Beauregard give an ultimatum to the Fort Sumter garrison by mid-April.

When Anderson refuses to surrender American territory Beauregard assaults and takes the fort*.

*Unless a 2nd successful reinforcement is made which includes reinforcements for the garrison, then the Americans might be able to hold the fort.

One of the alternate scenarios is the USS Brooklyn being sent along with the Star of the West*, would the ship include troop reinforcements, or not?

*I really like that name
