Now imagine for what reasons ever Stalin's health is in a better shape, wouldn't (like Konrad Adenauer) be senile in old age and he would have had a similar lifespan like for example Ronald Reagen (93 years) so that he would have lived until 1971. The basics of Soviet history teach us that Stalin had planned another purge. So my questions are:

  • Which prominent Soviet figures might have become victims of the second purge besides Beria and could Stalin have had the potential to surpass Mao as history's greatest mass murderer?
  • How might the Soviet Union look after his reign in terms of technology, economy, military and political influence?
  • How would the Soviet relations be with the West and China?
  • Might we see a Soviet invasion of Yugoslavia, China (if we have here a Sino-Soviet split too) or of any other country?
  • Could Stalin have the potential to turn the Cold War hot?
  • When Stalin becomes too old and refuses to abdicate, who might pull the strings backstage and would there be a possibility from him of being ousted or even assassinated? If yes, by whom?
  • Will a longer duration of Stalin's reign slower or fasten the collapse of the USSR?
And so on. I think that this is an interesting scenario.
