What would have happened if Spiro Agnew was not indicted in 1974, either because he didn't take bribes or they weren't discovered?
I agree he'd govern conservatively, and therefore fend off Reagan (if he even chooses to run against Agnew) however would a conservative Agnew taking over after Nixon have a moderate run against him in the primary and would Agnew be able to fight off said moderate? If he does, the GOP is toast in '76. Ford ran an exceptionally well campaign, I don't see Agnew doing the same.Let's say he doesn't take the bribes. he becomes President and is a conservative President. He led in primary polls in 1973 and governs in a more conservative manner than Ford. He'd beat Reagan in the primary. Not sure if he beats the Democrat nominee.
