They would probably be stuck there, surrounded and crushed eventually, putting themselves in a wealthy, easily defensible trap; without real ways to get out.

It wouldn't be the first time a servile army would try that.

Such move would be quite surprising, except if Slaves decide to get rid of their plan to get out of Italy.

I always thought Spartacus had some intention of reaching Sertorious in Spain. I'd wager he did have contact with Spartacus (as did, possibly, Mithradates), so it isn't far fetched-getting there is the problem, though it would be easier if they continued out of Italy while they were in the north.
