Using that logic the reintroduction of slavery in the United States is possible.
It is. Slavery didn't end at the end of the civil war. Many a black man was enslaved under the guise of "convict labor" during Jim Crow. In fact if you want to look at the modern war on drugs as a policy meant to keep blacks oppressed, Ehrlichman did, and notice that the United States still uses convict labor then you might notice that the United States still arbitrarily and racistly enslaves black men. But you know that's not standard political discourse so lets pretend I didn't say all that.

There is a fine line between "convict labor" and enslaving citizens.

Still not the same as reintroducing slavery in South Africa or the US.

How? I mean if you are enslaved because of "vagrancy laws" or "possessing marijuana" or "possessing alcohol (in the 20s/30s) vs overtly being enslaved for your skin color what difference does it make to you? I mean you're still enslaved. Slavery is slavery. You can call it convict labor all you want but it is what it is.

Now there are different types of slavery, but it is still slavery.
