WI: Shah killed in 1979?

Lets say that the Shah of Iran finds himself stranded in Iran and in 1979 he is killed by Khomeini's supporters. What happens?

Before or after the turbans actually taking power?

In the former case, the military will react, no matter the consequences.
In the latter, Mohammed Reza Pahlavi could become a martyr in some circles, but I doubt it would make much of a difference. The military is presumably neutralised and Peanuts Carter didn't want to intervene even when it could have made a difference, let alone now.
