WI: Sergio "Kun" Aguero to Chelsea FC Summer 2010

During the 2009-2010 season (and less so early 2010-2011), common knowledge held that Sergio Aguero was going to Chelsea. Ultimately, that didn't happen due to Aguero's wage demands being pretty steep. In January 2011, Chelsea signed Fernando Torres, which went...um...yeah.

So the question is, what if the Chelsea honchos gave their blessing to the deal? Aguero becomes the highest paid player in the Chelsea squad...what happens to the dressing room, managers, Prem, Europe, etc? Does it butterfly Torres, or does Roman Abramovich still shell out the cash?

Torre's problem was that as an out and out striker he needed a midfield to feed him and the Chelsea midfield of the time was not good at providing. Drogba, the striker tends to play deeper than is usual for that position and Lampard was a deep lying forward in all but name. Torres was still scoring for Spain all through this time because Xavi, Alonso et al were providing him.

Plus they tried all sorts of tricks, trying to convert him into a wide forward on the right; guy was misused.

If they did that with Fernando Torres, who at the time for about 5 years had been considered the most dangerous center foward in the world, they will of course play games with Aguero

Man City sign Robin Van Persie in the summer of 2012, missing out on the 11-12 title having finished behind United.

Chelsea probably fare slightly better, maybe winning an extra trophy.

With Torres not leaving, I still see Suarez arriving at Anfield - Liverpool would simply have just not signed Carroll instead.
