A sort-of follow up to my Governor Silber thread, this time with a different Perot consideration.

After Democratic Senator Howard Metzenbaum's retirement, there was a contested GOP primary between two candidates. One was Lieutenant Governor Mike DeWine, the other was Doctor Bernadine Healy. Healy raised over two million dollars, but was blown out by 19 points in the primary. The race was quite tight at first, so let's say DeWine does some really silly stuff and cocks it up. Healy probably wins against Hyatt in November.

What happens in the senate? Does she become notable or does she get dismissed as a kooky backbencher? I suspect she'd be on Dole's VP shortlist come '96.
