The Battle of Raphia was fought between the Seleucid Empire and the Ptolemaic Egypt in 217. The Battle had a lot riding on it because at the time Egypt was entering a trying time. The Seleucid Invasion had caused chaos in an already decaying Egypt and the continuation of their dynasty rode on the outcome of the battle. Ptolemy IV managed to pull a victory out of what many considered an open and shut battle for the more professional Seleucid Army. Egypt would go on to rule Syria for a short time, and the Ptolemy Dynasty would continue on until the death of Cleopatra.
However, what would happen if the Seleucid's were able to rout the Egyptian Army? Would they go on to conquer Egypt? Would that hinder or help the later growth of their Empire? What would happen to the Ptolemy's? Would they all be killed? Allowed to rule as tributaries to the Seleucid's?
