I'm sure that Abdul Hadi Pasha will be along in a while to give the experts opinion. Only knowing a bit about the Ottoman Empire myself from a brief look at a couple of sources if it leads to the disbandment of the Janissary corps (later to become known as the Auspicious Incident) happening 15 or so years earlier I don't think it could be anything other than good for the Empire. Granted it will probably be more of a challenge and a bit of a slog, hence why I give it a couple of years for the mopping up job, but that's 15 years the Empire can start reforming in earlier than IOTL. With what looks like a solid successor in Mahmud II, provided Selim doesn't produce an heir himself, things could gain some real momentum. I've got no idea how this is going to affect Serbia breaking away, Greece doing likewise later on, or relations with Muhammad Ali in Egypt.
