WI: Seleucid Empire stops the Romans?

as seen above. I'd love a PoD with Hannibal Barca, but it doesnt have to have him in it.

Very, very difficult I think. By the time Rome and Seleucidia clashed the cat was out of the bag in terms of Roman expansion. They had defeated Hannibal after a long abd bloody war then dismantled the Macedonians and dominated Greece.

The Selucids, possibly added by Hannibal may have won for a while. Possibly driving the Romans out of much of Greece but their war machine meant they would have been back in fairly short order. Also once the Selucid's falter, a change of ruler or a civil war, their toast. Furthermore they were struggling already to handle both the size of their disparete empire and the threat posed by the Parthians to the east. Not to mention, if they were successful for a while, then would have the Greeks resentful of them and the Ptolomatics distrustful of their power.

Hence I could see things being delayed a while by good leadership but the Selucid state was too reliant on one capable leader to match Rome in the longer term.
