WI Secretariat didn't retire?

So what if instead of retiring at age 3, he continues to race for a few more years. Does he win the Triple Crown a 2nd time?

He falls in His next race:eek:, shattering his fetlock:eek:, and must be put down:eek:.
This is why he was retired after winning the Crown. His stud value was as high as it could go, and there was no profit in continued racing.

?And aren't the Crown Races Only For 3 year olds?

End of the Dream.

How about Secretariat runs and ususaly wins a few more races. Talk of a second tripple crown starts. Secratariat attracts even more attention, himself and hourse raceing. Guys start calling sports talk radio and saying things like " Ya think that hourse can win another Tripple you know Crown?" Then Secratariat had that terrable fall. That was the end of the dream.

He probably gets beaten by a younger fitter horse and his stud value plummets. OTOH many race horses have a long and distinguished racing career and later went on to stud, or become brood mares.
It all depends on luck and chance in horse racing. We can all study form and try and guess how fit a horse is, but on the day punters and owners alike are in the lap of the gods.

I don't know too much about the Triple Crown, but I do know that it would have to be an exceptional horse to win the Grand National twice (though it has happened), and I wouldn't risk my money on a previous winner. The Derby is another matter, but then it's a flat race.
