WI: Second Korean War begins in either 1968, 1969, 1970 or 1971?

What if, during the height of the Vietnam War, North Korea invades the South? Do they have a chance of winning?

No! Even the French under degulle supported South Korean independence.
The entire free world would have fought against Kim senior.

Speaking in support of someone and actually sending troops to help them are two different things. As for the OP, the answer is no. The Soviets won't get directly involved, and the Chinese are too busy with the Cultural Revolution. North Korea can't do it on its own.

Not to mention how this would affect the Vietnam War. Korea had the 2nd largest troop deployment there. Once they get redeployed, these war veterans will have a good punch to give the north.

And The U.S may actually use this as a selling point for the war against Vietnam and expanding it to Korea. maybe winning over people and expanding the draft to make up for the escalating war.

and plus, when North Korea captured the USS Pueblo on Jan. 23, 1968, it did not exactly endear itself to the American public.

* yes, it was a spy ship, but it most probably did stay outside the 12-mile range

Detente comes early and the Soviets support the US against the threat of Chinese aggression during the conflict.
