WI Scotland conquers Ireland?

Robert the Bruce tried to drive the English out with the invitation of the Irish, but failed. The issue isn't necessarily driving the English from the island, as much as holding Ireland when the Irish inevitably turn on the Scots.

Hold up. Lets start by discussing what's going on if England is a French territory.

You may have to date the POD and provide additional conditions. How much of the British Isles is under French control? What is the status of the Barons? Are the French in Ireland? Scotland?

Good point, I have been reading some thread regarding the Angevin Empire, and coming to the conclution that such union would eventually gravitate towards France far more than the Isles so I tought of the possibility that this now french centered empire neglecting expantion into Scotland and Ireland prefering maybe keeping Scotland as a sphered ally. In such a setting I thought posible for Scotland take the roll of England in Ireland, putting minor irish polities against each other and slowly eventually fully annexing the island.

You take the high road, and I’ll take the low road, and I’ll be in Scotland before you...

In all seriousness, probably more sectarian violence if this is after the reformation than if this is before.

If England is part of France, could Scotland take the chance and conquer Ireland?

surly if England is part of France that would mean Scotland would be completely fucked. i don't know how much the Auld alliance was a factor of keeping Scotland independence, but even if it wasn't with the combined resources of a united England and France they would steam roll over Scotland.

Actually the Irish did conquer Scotland (moderately joking)... an interesting variant would be if they had established a union circa late 5th century that somehow endured.

Not necessarily--this could easily butterfly into a stronger Reich tying resources to the Contient.

How about King John not dying in 1216 and Louis Prince of France succeeding in conquering all of England afterwards? Then in 1223 he becomes king of France? That's the easiest way to bring England under France.

In addition to the Bruce invasion, at one point during the Irish Confederate Wars the Scots tried to conquer Ulster but were decisively defeated at the Battle of Benburb by Owen Roe O'Neill.

English policies of divide and conquer were a house of cards that eventually failed resulting in the Nine Years War. Suppressing Hugh O'Neill's rebellion nearly drove England to bankruptcy, the Scots wouldn't stand a chance on their own.
