Although details are obviously sketchy about battles fought 5,000 years ago, it is clear that the foundation of the Akkadian Empire under Sargon the Great was not entirely peaceful, with the few sources from that time indicating that he fought several battles to subdue the rich and highly developed (for the time) region of Sumer using the resources of his more northerly Akkadian power base. Given the nature of warfare at that time and later, it seems pretty likely to me that he was present close to battle, and therefore could plausibly have died during one of those battles. Suppose this occurs; what happens?
