WI: Samuel J. Tilden Runs Again in 1880

In 1880, the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination was the general election runner up from 1876: Samuel Tilden. However, Tilden declined to run and retired from politics. But what if he ran in 1880? Would he get the Democratic nomination? If so, would he beat James Garfield?

IMO Tilden could get the nomination and he'd be the frontrunner, but the controversy over Democratic bribery in 1876 and his health would cause him trouble. Either Tilden is nominated, or nobody gets 2/3 of the vote and Hancock is chosen as a compromise candidate. The 1880 was extremely close. What would be the outcome of a second Tilden candidacy?
