Like the thread title says...What impact would this occurance have on the course of history for Sicilia,Italy,the Med&the World?What kind of Govt would he form?Would he be able to gain any support from other nations to maintain independant self rule?What about the Soviet Union?Would they view the Coup as an opportunity to further their agendas?What kind of trade links could be forged or maintained by this new Regime?Would this independant Scicily face Embargos or Military action from Italy&other Nations?

A independent Sicily near the 50s is pretty much ASB, excpet if the Communist Party takes over. Your only chances are between 1943 nd 1946, with Umberto II accepting to launch a de facto civil war as King in Sicily being very close to ASB itself.

In any case, it would be a Banana Republic controlled by Mafia and the Agrarians, under strict Atlantic loyalty.
