WI Russia became a constitutional monarchy?

Inspired by a program about the Romanovs on the National Geographic Channel. What if Russia became a constitutional monarchy in 1905? Would such an announcement by Czar Nicholas II, have postponed, forestalled, or
in some way cancel, the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917?

I hope you are doing more research for this WI than reading the back of old trading card. Frankly, your research skills are worse than that of a freshman in college.

No, he watched a National Geographic TV show on the subject.

The trading card collection is only for challenge posts!

Well, I guess there would be a bit more discussion if the topic of this thread was "WI Russia became an actual constitutional monarchy", because it can be argued that Russia stayed a de facto absolute monarchy till its collapse.

I guess this means bard has never heard of the October Manifesto ... obviously it wasn't mentioned on the TV show he watched.

I haven't. All I know about Russia is that Czar Nicholas II abdicated and offered
the crown to Grand Duke Michael, who in turn, abdicated. The show was more
about their deaths in 1918. I saw it twice. The first time I was falling asleep.
Rasputin was the problem. He was shot, poisoned, and later, drowned. According to a book I read, Rasputin told the British psychic Cheiron, that if he
was killed by the Russian peasants, the monarchy would survive. But if he was
killed by members of the Russian royal family, the monarchy would fall.

Read. Learn.

By the by, long expositions on irrelevant facts tend to annoy people.

My bad. The original Duma was started then. But my main question about the
Russian Revolution of 1917 remains unanswered.

If you use the Search function, you should be able to find a few older threads covering the topic.

Nicholas did announce reforms and a constitutional monarchy in 1905. Your "what if" is not a what if, because it's postulating that events happen exactly the way they transpired in history. Ergo, no change.

Russia would emerge much richer than in OTL if Russia had used constitutional monarchy in British model. However, Russia didn't became a constitutional monarchy due to the autocracy of Czar Nicholas II and Rasputin.
