I got wondering over the weekend about Rudolf IV of Austria. He died in the 1360s and the Habsburg lands ended up being wracked by feuding between his brothers, Albrecht III and Leopold II.

So, here's the POD: Rudolf doesn't die in Milan where he's gone for Leopold's wedding to Viridis Visconti. Instead, the megalomaniacal duke of Austria lives, ducking and diving assassination and death in battle, until at least the turn of the century. Then when Karl IV dies, can Rudolf get elected emperor instead of Rupprecht of the Palatinate? Can he hold the imperial throne against the Luxemburgs (Karl IV's kids are still the same as OTL (birthyear and personality-wise)) or the Wittelsbachs?
