WI Romans won the Battle of Heliopolis?

In July 640 invading Arab army confronted the Roman Legions in Egypt in the battle of Heliopolis...
Romans deployed 25000 men approximately while Arabs had about 15000...
Despite being outnumbered Arabian horsemen outflanked the Roman army without being noticed by Roman scouts and surround them... The whole Roman army was annihilated that day leaving Egypt to be flooded by Arabs...
WI Romans had won that day? Could Egypt survived the Arabian invasion and remain in Roman hands?

Had they won that day could the Exarch of Africa succesfully petitioned for help? Since the Emperor was preparing for campaigning in Italy and Sicily... Could this victory changed the Emperor's plans and attacked the Arabs instead?

another no islamic rise well still fun so.

The eastern empire would be stable for a little while and the persians arnt destroyed so they will remean the no 1 enemies of the eastern empire.

If i am not mistaken Persians were crushed by Emperor Heraclius in 627 in the battle of Nineveh...
If the Arabs were repealed in 640 in Egypt i think the only enemy the empire would have might be the Visigoths in Spain... but they were kinda far away to be a real threat...

The eastern empire was really weakened after the war with persia so after the defeat of the arabs by the romans the persians would probably revive to. if rome is able to get enough soldiers on this point they may conquer large parts of modern iraq

Agree... If they can transfer Legions from Illyricum to Persia this scenario has many chances... The only problem is that if Illyricum weakens significantly Avars and Bulgars might have invaded... unless Heraclius gives up the Exarchate of Ravenna to strike them from behind...

Maybe... i think they schould hold Anatolia and greece instead of Illiria constantinople has a perfect defense and if they have some new legions after the war with persia (they would probably have a huge haul) they take it back. i think the people in Illiria would rather like to have the byzantines as their rulers then some avars who raid them even after the conquered Illiria

Only with Church's help they could raise new Legions... In OTL Patriarch Sergius sold the gold and silver sacred chalices and objects of the Church to finance the campaign against Persia... Maybe something similar would have happened in this case...

So ERE gets rid of Eastern dangers and confronts a new danger in their northern borders...
Exarchate of Ravenna could deal with them i guess...
