Rock was essentially launched by the early forms of itself, namely rock & roll and rockabilly. The ancestors of rock music were many - jazz, blues, country, Appalachian folk music and gospel. Considering the popularity of jazz and country in the 1920s & 1930s, what if rock music ended up being developed and launched around this timeframe?

That's not so far fetched. Popular music from the 1920s & 1930s does have elements of rock if you listen closely to jazz and country recordings from that time.

Should rock be born around this time, how would it fare against other popular forms of music? What effect would we see on the youth of 1930s rock? How angry would the moral guardians be?
