King Philip IV of France had four sons by his wife, Queen Joan I of Navarre. The first three people have heard of - Louis X, Philip V and Charles IV. The youngest, Robert, I had never heard of until a few days ago. Prince Robert was, according to the Flores historiarum by Bernard Guidonis, born in 1297 and betrothed to Constance of Sicily (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constance_of_Sicily,_Queen_of_Cyprus) before dying in 1308.

Assuming Robert survives to adulthood, marries Constance, and becomes King Robert III on Charles IV's death (with nothing much else changing between 1308 and 1328), what impact would this have? Would the main Capetian line be likely to live on, or would Philip of Valois just come to the throne a few years later?

Any thoughts?
