WI Rights of women 1789-90

There were women involved in the early stages of the French Revolution.

WI the 1st Republic's assembly were elected by ADULT suffrage?

Would the politics be markedly different?

Would the terror have been as bad, worse, less severe or avoided altogether?

What would be the consquence for 19th and 20th century feminism

I am sorry to say this is almost ABW.

Given the standing in law of women at the time I can't see them gaining any power.

Women at the time were more chattle than person when it came to property rights, rights on child custody etc.

Jean Jacques Rousseau wrote "Women do wrong to complain of the inequality of man-made laws" and claimed that "when she tries to usurp our rights, she is our inferior" only a couple of years before the revolution.

While Mary Wollstonecraft and Olympe de Gouges were active at the time of the revolution their ideas were considered to be point of farce rather than anything that serious politicians should be considering.

That said IF it did happen then I can't really see it having a major impact on the revolution or its outcomes.

If universal sufferage did continue after 1815 then I can see it having an affect on sufferage in other European countries (but Switserland didn't give the vote to women until the early 1970's IOTL).
