WI Ridolfi Plot successfull in 1571?

In 1571 Queen Elizabeth I uncovered a plot against her reign formed by Roberto Ridolfi who aimed in kidnapping or murdering Elizabeth I and replace her with her cousin Mary Queen of the Scots while in the same time the Duke of Norfolk would mary her and become the de facto King of England. However Elizabeth reacted quickly and all the plotters were arrested.
WI Ridolfi plot was successfull and Elizabeth ends up deposed or even dead while Mary and the Duke of Norfolk ascend the throne? How would Spain react to this since Mary had really close ties with France and a potential Anglo-French alliance would have endangered the balances of power in Europe and Spanish interests...
How is History affected after that?

Elizabeth never named a successor so people would dispute Mary's right to rule. Being both foreigner and catholic. So if Elizabeth is killed some Englishman would be chosen to rule and with elizabeth being killed in catholic plot such person would have to be protestant.

Well Norfolk and Mary could have revived Bloody Mary's persecutions in order to keep order in the realm...

They didn't have the support amongst either the magnates (after the suppression of the northern Earls in 1569) or the rising London merchant class to ever get in that position.

What you'd see is, unfortunately, a major anti-Catholic pogrom, the execution of Norfolk and Mary, and Elizabeth's legend being enhanced as a Protestant Marytr. Expect English anti-Catholicism to be substantialy more virulent.

But MQS' rule would be disputed from the start so even if they somehow push the coronation through it would be seen as illegitimate. I'd say civil warwould break out right away.

As I say above, it would never get that far. I doubt that Mary would even survive to escape Titbury castle, as I'm confident that Elizabeth would have left instructions for what to do in case of ther demise. Even if she did, she'd be stuck in the north, tarred with the brush of regicide, whislt the south mobilised against her.

Well, I said her claims to the throne would be disputed from the start. At best she would be crowned somewhere where she would have some support but few people would recognise its legitimacy, specially if she planned to rule with the aid of spanish halberds.
